I must admit I always get a little giddy when a prospective client inquires and tells me they are a dancer! There is something about the pose, elegance and confidence that I’ve always admired when photographing such athletes.
I am not a dancer myself; sure I did the whole tap, ballet, jazz thing when I was a kid, but I ended up doing other sports as I got older. But I do know how to find gorgeous light and work with dancers to capture that pose that I was just describing.
What I love about this session is first of all, Chloe is not a senior. Most of my clients will wait until their senior year to take photos of their interests. Chloe is only in the 8th grade but fell in love with some images I had posted a while back from a shoot in Central Park, NYC. Second of all, we did our best to recreate that look in a local park with Chloe’s personal touch on it all. I love how she stands out in contrast to the dull New England background this time of year.
While I was bundled up during this shoot, Chloe sported her thin leotard and tights (this shoot was in the beginning of December!). She kept asking why we didn’t do it in the summer months! Certainly the overall look is completely different and I have to say I love both equally!
Thanks for enduring the cold, Chloe, and for choosing JBP to capture these gorgeous shots for you!
